ETF Today

Since its inception on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 1990, Exchange-traded funds, commonly known as ETFs, have emerged as a successful investment vehicle among institutional and individual investors, both at home and abroad. Right now, the market value for ETF products is cross the threshold of $500 billion US dollars.

ETFs are stock-market listed investment products that track indexes. Unlike mutual funds, which reveal their holdings only twice a year, ETF's components are disclosed on every trading day. And also because of itsstock-like feature, the fees and expenses of owning ETFs are much cheaper than owning the mutual funds.

According to a report from Morgan Stanley, there are currently 670 ETFs listed on 37 global exchanges, with another 300 ETFs planning to be listed.
